Faculty of Biosphere–Geosphere Science

Admission Policy

The Faculty of Biosphere – Geosphere Science trains individuals who view the earth from a broad perspective; thinking of the earth as one complex system where humans and other living beings coexist. To achieve this goal, this program is composed of 6 courses: “botanical and horticultural science”, “zoological and entomological science”, “geography and archaeology”, “geoscience and aerography”, “astronomy” and “dinosaur science and paleontology”. They all provide education based on realtime observations and surveys that promote comprehensive understanding through field research and information analysis across each course.

Based on the above, the Faculty of Biosphere – Geosphere Science seeks students according to the following:

  • Enjoy the process of preparation before and careful reflection after fieldwork
  • Have communication skills and basic academic ability as well as the potential to use them to contribute to society
<Our Faculty expects senior high school students to have>
  • Learned Science (Biology, Earth Science, Physics) and Social Studies (Geography, History), which are important to fieldwork
  • A solid understanding of English, Japanese and Mathematics
<Basic selection guidelines>
○Entrance examination by a special recommendation for specific or integrated courses is based on:
  • Transcripts and written recommendation
  • Assessment of basic knowledge of Mathematics and English (examination)
  • Interview to assess character and motivation for learning
