Nature Fieldwork Center (NFC)

Serving as a hub for field research and educational support, the center oversees facilities such as the Natural Botanical Garden, the Ecosystem Garden, and the Maejima Marine Education Facility. In addition to facilitating fieldwork by providing and managing equipment, the center actively leverages these sites for its own educational and research initiatives.

The Institute of Viticulture and Enology

Focusing on developing innovative winemaking technologies, the institute conducts research by analyzing compounds that influence wine flavor and aroma, breeding beneficial yeast strains, and cultivating grapes for winemaking.

Institute of Paleontology and Geochronology

This institute is dedicated to establishing and advancing a new research field focused on macroevolutionary studies in paleontology through chronological research, integrating chronological and analytical methods in a systematic and interdisciplinary manner.

Museum of Dinosaur Research

The exhibits showcase the entire process—from fossil excavation in Mongolia’s Gobi Desert to laboratory research and analysis—and present ongoing studies in real time.

Biomedical Science Examination and Research Center

Utilizing knowledge and techniques developed through human clinical testing, the institute contributes to human and animal health management, environmental hygiene, and food safety. Additionally, it fosters collaboration between medicine and veterinary medicine while cultivating highly skilled professionals in biomedical sciences.

Research Center for Architectural History and Culture

Conducting research and practical initiatives in cultural heritage preservation, the institute studies historic buildings and townscapes, supports the designation and registration of regional cultural properties, provides guidance on restoring historic structures, and offers advisory services to local communities.Additionally, the center dedicates itself to establishing a socially recognized philosophy of cultural heritage preservation, a concept that has yet to be fully realized in Japan.

Okayama University of Science Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital

The Okayama University of Science Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital is an institution committed to training veterinarians who make meaningful contributions to society through the practice of veterinary medicine education, research, and treatment. In addition to providing treatment to companion and industrial animals in response to the demands for advanced and diversified veterinary care, we have a system in place for training a diverse range of personnel, including conducting translational research that bridges the gap between basic research and clinical practice, and veterinary doctors who work in collaboration with human medical professionals to study the intersections between animal and human health and bridge the gap between human and veterinary medicine. In recent years, team veterinary medicine has become important in veterinary care. For this reason, we will train veterinarians and veterinary-related specialists (veterinary paraprofessionals: VPPs) who will contribute to the profession's development.

The OUS Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital strives to improve its facilities and medical equipment and provide state-of-the-art veterinary care that meets the needs of companion animals and livestock. Our resolve is to play a role as a as a regional hub for veterinary clinical practice in Shikoku, serving as both a Center of Community (COC) and a Center of Excellence (COE).

International Veterinary Education and Research Information Center

The International Veterinary Education and Research Center aims to contribute to the development of veterinary education. It is responsible for collecting, compiling, and disseminating information on veterinary affairs, building networks with related organizations and other universities, and planning and implementing measures that contribute to internationalized education. To achieve these goals, the center holds international symposiums and develops exchange programs with overseas universities.

Laboratory Animal Research Center

The Center was established as a share-use facility for the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine to contribute to the development of life science research by appropriately housing and managing experimental animals necessary for veterinary medicine education and research and supporting high-precision animal experiments based on animal welfare in accordance with animal welfare principles.

To this end, the Center has obtained certification from AAALAC International (Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International), an international accreditation body for animal welfare.

As one of Japan's largest veterinary school animal center, the Center houses a wide range of animal species, including mice, rats, dogs, and cats, and features state-of-the-art laboratories equipped with multiple specialized facilities, including genetically modified animal breeding rooms, infection control labs, operating rooms, ICUs, and pathology laboratories.

It also includes a dedicated area for breeding and researching aquatic animals, a unique feature that sets our university apart from other veterinary schools in Japan.
