On May 20, 2024, students from the Chihlee University of Technology in Taiwan, who came to visit OUS, and volunteer students from OUS who are enrolled in Japanese language education classes gathered for a meaningful exchange.
During the exchange activity, students enjoyed free conversation based on the themes written on the dice they rolled. This activity allowed them to deepen their understanding of each other's cultures and interests.
In the latter half of the exchange, the students embarked on a journey of discovery and mutual learning. They discussed the attractions and some disappointing aspects of both universities and their cities, and based on this discussion, they created original playing cards (karuta). This activity led to new discoveries, such as information about major Taiwanese companies and the impressions of the Chihlee University of Technology students about Okayama. They could also share information about university life, further deepening mutual understanding.
The students concluded the exchange by playing with the karuta they had created themselves, enjoying the interaction. The OUS students commented that the students from the Chihlee University of Technology were not just cheerful and communicative, but also warm and friendly, making them easy to talk to. They also enjoyed the process of creating karuta together, which was a great opportunity to foster deep and lasting friendships between students from the Chihlee University of Technology and OUS.
