Pre-Orientation for Spring Overseas Program

On January 24th, a pre-orientation was conducted for 16 Okayama University of Science(OUS) students heading to Sri Lanka, the Philippines, and Taiwan this spring at the Presentation Room on the 1st floor of Building A1 at OUS.

Each group will conduct their program at universities or institutions with which our university has agreements. The Sri Lanka group will spend approximately two weeks from February 14th to February 29th at the Sputnik International Education Center in Colombo. The Philippines group will be in Manila at Mapúa University from February 19th to March 15th, approximately for one month. The Taiwan group will be at Chihlee University of Technology in Taipei from March 12th to March 19th for a duration of eight days. All groups will engage in various activities while they are there.

During the pre-orientation, students received guidance on procedures to be followed before and after traveling. Additionally, group activities were organized to address cultural shock, and participants learned how to prepare for and cope with cultural shock during their stay abroad and upon their return. As part of the assignment, students were tasked with observing changes in their own emotions during the trip and writing a brief journal every day. After returning, all participants will collectively present what left an impression on them during the overseas training in a post-orientation session. Anticipating numerous insights and learning experiences within the limited time frame of the students.
