Online Cultural Exchange with Mongolian National University of Education Students

2023.12.19更新news

On Saturday, December 2, OUS 2nd-year students enrolled in the Japanese Language Education II class in the Faculty of Education held an online cultural exchange activity with students studying Japanese at the Mongolian National University of Education (MNUE), an overseas partner school.

Eighteen students from the Faculty of Education separated into four groups. They introduced the lives of Japanese university students under the themes "What University Students Eat for Lunch," "Circle/Club Activities," "Part-Time Jobs for University Students," and "A Day in the Life of an OUS Student." The students introduced the OUS cafeteria menu, OUS circles/clubs, their activities and expenses, the kinds of part-time jobs university students have and the hours they work, their commute to school and class schedules, and details of student life that students cannot learn in Japanese textbooks.

In the latter half of the activity, OUS students learned about Mongolia with a quiz on MNUE students' part-time jobs and university. The students also experienced traditional Mongolian culture through traditional Mongolian songs and Matouqin performances.

Through these exchanges with our overseas partner schools, we hope to develop an awareness of the cultural diversity required of Japanese language teachers.
