On Wednesday, July 5, 2023, GLOBOLA members participated in Tanabata Eco Night in the Student Commons at the A1 Building.
In May, Student Support Services of the Okayama University of Science organized the event and asked GLOBOLA members to participate by doing an activity involving the university’s international students. Although the group was already planning a Summer Festival for students and faculty visiting from the United States, they accepted the challenge of doing both simultaneously.
After weeks of discussion, the group decided on preparing and selling foods from overseas countries. Part of the decision process was practicing preparing candidate dishes in the Home Economics training room on the 9th floor of the A1 Building.
Kwek-Kwek, a Filipino dish of orange, deep-fried quail eggs Turon, another Filipino dish of spring rolls filled with banana and brown sugar Nanking Mochi, a Chinese dish of sweet rice flour and pumpkin Cutlet, a Sri Lankan dish made of potatoes, onions, sardines, and flour
After practice, GLOBOLA decided to make Turon, Nanking Mochi, and Cutlet for Tanabata Eco Night.
On the event day, all GLOBOLA members worked nonstop preparing the food, transporting it from the Home Economics room to the Student Commons, and selling it to many students, staff, and faculty. 14 GLOBOLA members worked from 15:00 to 20:00 to make a successful event.
