On Wednesday, June 28, GLOBOLA held a Summer Festival for student and faculty visitors from Ohio and OUS students at Rela on the basement floor of the A1 building.
On Monday, June 26, 2023, 22 students and faculty from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, and the University of Findlay in Ohio, came to Okayama to participate in various cultural activities at the Okayama and Imabari campuses of the Okayama University of Science. Both universities have been sister schools of Kake Educational Institution since 1979 and 1992, respectively.
The festival began with a welcome message delivered by a GLOBOLA member in English and Japanese, putting participants into five groups. The first activity was an icebreaker game called "Crossing Galaxies," involving two lines of tape and paper plates. Members of each group help one another to get from one planet (one line of tape) to another (another line of tape) by crossing the galaxy (space between both lines) by using stars (paper plates).
After the icebreaker, the facilitator introduced the festival activities: Draw Lottery, Sling Shot Gallery, Ring Toss, Superball, and Balloon Yo-yo. Each group had a GLOBOLA member as a leader who guided them from one activity to another every ten. At each activity were GLOBOLA members who explained how to play and win prizes in English and Japanese.
In all, 21 GLOBOLA members contributed to the Summer Festival's planning, organizing, preparation, and holding.
