On Tuesday, November 15, Okayama University of Science had an online confirmation visit for the IB renewal.
After more than half a year of meetings, IB educator certificate staffs prepared materials and prepared evidence such as student artifacts, etc. Although the IB Educator Program classes are taught in Japanese, we need to explain in English, so there was a lot of translation work and support from many people.
The IB Educator Program at Okayama University of Science was accredited in 2016. This confirmation visit was also an opportunity to compile questionnaires and interviews with students who completed the program to see how they felt about it. It was also an opportunity to see that many students thought they could demonstrate their IB studies well on the teacher application.
The data showed that many of the students were applying to public schools. In some cases, "the interviewers' faces lit up when we talked about the IB, and they were interested to hear what we had to say, which was an opportunity to broaden our perspectives through the preparation of the renewal.
Since this time was online, we paid particular attention to presenting the materials quickly. Through this, we spent more time discussing and exchanging opinions on the program's future development.
We received many suggestions on expanding the scope of DP Chemistry and providing language-related programs and examples from other universities overseas. The main focus of the exchange of opinions was the discussion on the development of the program. We will continue to improve the framework of the program itself so that more students will be able to have access to IB.
