The Okayama University of Science has a student organization called "GLOBOLA" (Global Volunteers). This group plans and holds events that create a truly global community for international and Japanese students on the OUS campus. The events allow students to participate in activities championing intercultural understanding, communication, and the joy of learning foreign languages.
On April 20, GLOBOLA held an information session in the 3rd-floor conference room at the 50th Anniversary Commemorative Building on Okayama Campus to recruit new members. A second session is scheduled for Thursday, April 28, in the Presentation Room on the 1st floor of A1 Building.
At the briefing, participants viewed an explanatory video created by GLOBOLA members, followed by a presentation detailing the activities carried out so far. The members explained how students who traveled from various countries visited or studied at OUS and how OUS students have likewise traveled abroad. However, online exchanges with universities and students overseas have become the new focus because of the pandemic.
One current member commented, "By joining GLOBOLA, my circle of friends has expanded not only on campus, but throughout Japan, and beyond its borders. I feel this is equivalent to expanding my future possibilities outside of Japan. I am waiting for everyone to join so that I can expand my circle even further."
