On Sunday, December 7, GLOBOLA participated in the 27th Human Rights Festival in Okayama City by hosting a world food stall at Okayama Dome. It was their second time participating in the event.
GLOBOLA’s stall stood out among the others as the only student-run stall at the event. The members explained to many visitors the authentic Sri Lankan dish they served for the event: Chicken Curry and Coconut Roti, thoughtfully prepared and sold by a team of 13 members, including four Sri Lankan international students. Many visitors commented on how much they enjoyed the dish; some mentioned that it was their first time trying Sri Lankan cuisine.
GLOBOLA’s participation provided attendees with a chance to engage with a different culture while promoting the importance of multicultural coexistence. The booth featured a display explaining common Sri Lankan greetings, creating a welcoming space for conversation and connection. This event offered an excellent platform to raise awareness of GLOBOLA’s mission among the broader community.
Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Embassy of Sri Lanka, Japan, for the Disaster Relief Fund of the Government of Sri Lanka to assist in recovery efforts from massive flooding and mudslides caused by heavy tropical storms and monsoons.
