Relay Race

The event kicked off with Radio Calisthenics, which is held at every sports festival in Japan. International students were on board with exercising even though there was no music to accompany their exercises.
Participants were then separated into teams by color — red, yellow, green, and blue — and competed in four sporting events.
Tama-Ire 玉入れ: A game where teams throw as many balls as possible into a basket. In this event’s version, GLOBOLA members held colored boxes over their heads while teams used balled-up newspapers instead of the usual beanbags.
Dodge-bee ドッジビー: This game is a variation of Dodgeball using a soft frisbee instead of a ball.
After Dodge-bee, participants took a ten-minute break while GLOBOLA members set up for the next event..
Shogai Butsu Kyou-Sou 障害物競争 (Obstacle Race): Unlike most obstacle races that have climbing and jumping, GLOBOLA’s sports festival had a three-legged race, followed by Kendama (cup and ball game), then a ping-pong ball balance, and a mini-scavenger hunt.
Relay Race: A regular staple of the Japanese sports festival, the last event of the day’s activities.
The sports festival ended with a commemorative photo with all participants. After the photo, the participants responded to a questionnaire about their experiences. Here are some of the responses.
I enjoyed each sporting event with everyone.
It felt good to get some exercise after so long.
I could interact with international students and learn about them.
GLOBOLA will be holding more events to bring the OUS community together throughout the fall term both on and off campus. Keep an eye out for announcements on posters, the OUS homepage, and mylog.
