OUS Response to Extension of the State of Emergency (Classes after May 7)
April 30, 2020
To students,
Yasunobu Yanagisawa
University President
Okayama University of Science
With the spread of COVID-19 infection, a nationwide emergency declaration has been issued until May 6, during which OUS will conduct all classes online.
It is not yet known whether national or local governments will extend the state of emergency, or if it will be lifted altogether. It is believed that the government will release a statement during the latter half of Golden Week.
Although the situation is uncertain, we decided to hold classes after May 7 as follow:
Whether the State of Emergency will be extended or lifted, online classes will continue during Spring Semester 1 (until June 10), except for case (2).
If Okayama prefectural government lifts the State of Emergency, face-to-face classes will begin for some laboratory/practical classes in which case, instructors will notify students via mylog. Please check daily to stay up to date.
It is understandable that students are worried about not having regular classes while under the state of emergency. All faculty and staff will be mobilized to ensure that all Spring Semester 1 classes are carried out smoothly, so we ask for your understanding and wish you an enriching learning experience through classes, preparation, and review.
