A student from the University of Findlay in the United States, which has an educational exchange agreement with Okayama University of Science, recently visited the Department of Bioscience in the Faculty of Life Sciences for a training program.
For three days starting from June 4th, the student participated in training within the Environmental Science Course. Their training involved measuring total phosphorus, an indicator of eutrophication in environmental water, and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), an indicator of organic pollution. The student wore safety glasses and gloves while conducting experiments using reagents such as sulfuric acid. Despite the challenges of the unfamiliar procedures, she successfully managed to measure the COD.
The student will continue her training in other courses, and we hope she will have many valuable experiences during her time with us.
