On Friday, July 5, 2024, GLOBOLA members supported the 2024 Kake International Festival at the OUS Sky Terrace.

Kake Educational Institution’s Department of International Affairs invited GLOBOLA, a team of Japanese and international students dedicated to creating a global campus, to participate in the activity. The group collaborated with students from Sri Lanka, China, and Bangladesh to prepare and serve international cuisine to students and faculty visiting from the United States and Brazil and other guests.

The food they prepared consisted of the following:

Biryani: a spicy dish of Bangladesh containing basmati rice cooked in milk, with vegetables and meat
Coconut Roti & Chicken Curry: a dish of Sri Lanka containing round bread with coconut and a spicy curry with chicken and onions
Chicken Fingers: a dish of China made of fried chicken breast dipped in various spices

The event occurred two days after the OUS Tanabata Eco Night, where they served the same food, and a week after the GLOBOLA US-Brazil Summer Festival. On the event day, GLOBOLA members and international students worked nonstop preparing food in the Home Economics room and transporting it to Sky Terrace to serve to the guests.

Many visitors commented that they enjoyed tasting the cuisine that represented the global diversity of OUS’ international students.
