President Edwards began her visit at the Education and Research Center for Organisms Production, where she observed one of OUS’s four primary research initiatives: the "Third Water" project. As an experienced researcher in ichthyology, especially in studies involving hagfish, Dr. Edwards showed particular interest in this project, engaging research staff with insightful questions and vibrant discussions.
Her visit continued at the Museum of Dinosaur Research, where Dr. Edwards received an in-depth tour from Museum Director Professor Shinobu Ishigaki. "Who doesn’t love dinosaurs?" Dr. Edwards remarked, sharing her personal fascination with prehistoric creatures. The museum tour included lively discussions with Professor Ishigaki about the museum’s unique exhibits.
During a luncheon, Dr. Edwards met with ten OUS students who had participated in short-term study abroad programs at WSU in 2023 and 2024. The students eagerly recounted their experiences and memories of Ohio, leading to engaging and vibrant conversations.
A staff member from the Global Center at OUS expressed appreciation for the longstanding partnership, stating, “The 45-year partnership between our institutions is deeply meaningful to both schools. We are thrilled to host President Edwards and look forward to further strengthening our collaborations in research exchange and international learning opportunities for our students.”
