On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, GLOBOLA members participated in Tanabata Eco Night outside the A1 Building.
Once again, the Student Support Services of Okayama University of Science invited GLOBOLA, a team of students dedicated to creating a global campus, to participate in the activity and involve the university’s international students. This year, GLOBOLA collaborated with students from Sri Lanka, China, and Bangladesh to prepare and sell food to the OUS community during the annual event.
After weeks of discussion, the group decided to prepare three dishes. Part of the decision-making process was practicing preparing the dishes in the Home Economics training room on the 9th floor of the A1 Building.
This year’s menu consisted of the following.
Biryani: a spicy dish of Bangladesh containing basmati rice cooked in milk, with vegetables and meat Coconut Roti & Chicken Curry: a dish of Sri Lanka containing round bread with coconut and a spicy curry with chicken and onions Chicken Tenders: a dish of China made of fried chicken breast dipped in various spices
On the event day, 16 GLOBOLA members and international students worked nonstop from 15:00 to 20:00 preparing the food, transporting it from the Home Economics room to the tent outside of the A1 Building, and selling it to many students, staff, and faculty. They made the same dishes for the Kake International Festival two days later.
