IB Educator Certificate Program Students Taught Inquiry-based Classes at Tottori Prefectural Kurayoshi Higashi Senior High School

It was the third time OUS students held inquiry-based classes at Kurayoshi Higashi High School, with junior and senior high school students interested in the IB taking part. There were five subjects: English, Mathematics, Social Studies, Japanese, and Chemistry. As the classes were held at the school festival, OUS students aimed to create fun lessons in which the participants could explore their questions. In each class, a fourth-year student from the IBEC program acted as a facilitator to elicit questions from the students and get them thinking about what would happen and why.
The classes were very lively and attended by more students than originally planned. Through this practice, OUS students had the opportunity to reflect on and learn more about inquiry-based learning and collaborative skills that they have learned in the IBEC program.
