Entrance Examination Student Scholarship Program

The student scholarship program is adopted for the purpose of supporting study after entrance and a tuition exemption after entrance for students who have achieved excellent examination results in The Recommendation Entrance Examination K Method and SA, SAB, SB Method of General Entrance Examinations for the 1st Term. The number of scholarship students total 10 for the Recommendation Entrance Examination K Method and 125 for the SA Method, 45 for the SAB Method and 20 for the SB Method (200 students in all). Students will receive a tuition exemption of four years, two years or one year depending on the examination results (Scholarship Students totaled 208 students for 2014.)

■ Enrolled Students Scholarship Program

This program provides for students in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th year with a tuition exemption of one half for students who have demonstrated excellent academic performance, high moral character, and good health. Selection of the scholarship students is made every year.

Graduate School Entrance Examination Student Scholarship Program/Scholarship

Student Scholarship Program <Master’s Program, Doctor’s Program (2nd Semester)>

 

The Graduate School of the university has established a scholarship which is awarded to students of excellence who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement in the entrance examination and transcripts of undergraduate studies and other areas, for the purpose of giving extra supports to graduate students, in recognition of their dedication to study and research and providing an enhanced place of study.

If the Student Scholarship program is applied, payment for the 1st and 2nd year shall be ¥550,000 (¥500,000 for Socio-Information Field of Specialization).

Those who advance to the Master’s Program or Doctoral Program (2nd semester) (common to the 2nd and 3rd year of Doctoral Program) from the university receive an exemption from payment of the Entrance Fee.

 

Japan Student Services Organization Scholarship Program <Loan Program>

Students have the option to applying to the scholarship program by the Japan Student Services Organization. However, students entering through the Adult Student Entrance Examination shall consult the Student Affairs Office.

  • Type of Scholarship

“Class 1 Scholarship”: No interest

“Class 2 Scholarship”: Interest bearing. No interest during enrollment, yet interest up to an annual rate of 3% shall be added after graduation.

 

  • Monthly Loan Amount

“Class 1 Scholarship”: Master’s Program

¥50,000 or ¥88,000

Doctoral Program (2nd Semester)

¥50,000 or ¥122,000

“Class 2 Scholarship”: choose from among ¥50, 000, ¥80,000, ¥100,000, ¥130,000 and ¥150,000

*Student loans shall be repaid after completion of study.

However, for Class 1 Scholarship, a system of all or partial exemption from repayment is applied to the students who have achieved excellent performance during enrollment at the Graduate School.

■ Emergency Scholarship Program

Special measures shall be taken if a student is recognized as having dire need due to damege by natural disasters such as typhoons or earthquakes making it difficult to continue studies.For details, contact the “Student Affairs: +81-86-256-8432.”

■ Wakabayashi Scholarship Program

This program was established by an endowment from the family of the late Shoji Wakabayashi, Professor Emeritus and the late Shigeo Wakabayashi, who taught at the Kake Educational Institution for two generations as father and son. This is available only for 4th year students and scholarships are granted to students who are recognized as in dire need and is determined that the student would have difficulty graduating due to financial reasons.

■ Okayama University of Science Alumni Association Scholarship Program

This program is a loan program operated by the Alumni Association for students who are recognized as in dire need so that it would be difficult to continue to study due to financial reasons while they are enrolled at the Okayama University of Science (generally 4th year students and 6 students a year). Loan is ¥300,000 (each Semester). This loan program requires an application for each semester and students are responsible for payment of the loan after graduation.

■ Japan Student Services Organization Scholarship Program

This program is a scholarship program operated by Japan Student Services Organization and available for the university. The program offers a Class 1 Scholarship (No-interest) and Class 2 Scholarship (Interest bearing) and both must be repaid after graduation. For 1st year students, the adoption criteria are set according to high school GPA. For the Class 1 Scholarship, a GPA of above 3.5 and for Class 2 Scholarship, a GPA above average is required. This program also establishes a family income criteria. For details, refer to the “Japan Student Services Organization” website.

■ Other Scholarship Programs

For scholarship programs of local governments and private scholarship associations, conditions for application acceptance differ by organization and the time of application acceptance is not fixed, but most typically accept applications in April and May. There are organizations to which an application is made through the university and directly by the student. For more information please inquire directly with the related organizations, including prefectures (they are also posted on the signboard at Student Affairs).

Entrance Examination Student Scholarship Program for Privately Financed International Students

 

Privileges of Entrance Examination Scholarship Students

For International Students Entrance Examination Category A Term I, Mainland China and International Students Entrance Examination Category A Term II: if the top student of an entrance examination satisfies certain conditions, privileges of entrance examination scholarship students shall be given for the purpose of support of study. Privileges have the following two types and shall be determined in accordance with the examination results.

The Graduate School of OUS has established a scholarship which is awarded to graduate candidates of excellence who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement in the entrance examination, transcripts of undergraduate studies and other areas, for the purpose of giving extra support, in recognition of their dedication to study and research and providing an enhanced place of study.
When applied, candidates will be awarded ¥550,000 (¥500,000 for Socio-Information) for the 1st and 2nd academic years.

Japan Student Services Organization Scholarship Program <Loan Program>

Students have the option of applying to the Japan Student Services Organization. However, candidates entering in the Professional Student Entrance Examination should consult the Student Affairs Office.
